| Kostal Osteokondromlu Bir Olgu |
Costal Osteochondrome: A case report
Primary tumors of the chest wall, including bone and soft tissue tumor, account for approximately 2% of all primary tumors found in the body. The reported incidence of malignancy in these tumors varies from approximately 50 to 80%. Costal osteochondroma is the most common benign bone neoplasm, constituting nearly 50% of all benign rib tumors. Men are affected three times more frequently than women. It should be resected because of the risk of malignancy and intrathoracic complications. The patient that had chest pain and swelling anterior chest wall was 43 years old. The mass on the 3. rd costa was stated by chest graphy. It was reported as a regular size of 2x2 cm non-invasive on the chest computerized tomography. Pathologic activation was not detected by bone scintigraphy. The mass was totally resected. Osteochondroma was reported by the pathologist. There is no problem at the posto-perative 6th month. Here we report a costal solitary osteochondroma originated from rib which is an unusual localisation.
